Hello everyone, I wanted to share our first interview with you. Wringer Tee was interviewed by the on-line fashion network, Dobizo Network. Dobizo is a great site with helpful articles about starting and growing a clothing line. It is also a great place to network with other designers with young clothing companies.
One of the things that I love about Wringer Tee being on the web is the fact that it has the ability to totally surprise me. The web is fantastic! I know that many of you know this already but I can tell you, as one who is directly feeling the effects of a connected world, it is amazing.
Over the past two weeks we have been selling a great many shirts to Ghana. We have also had some customers in Norway. We have also been growing a loyal customer base here in the States. To know that people from around the world are interested in what Mike and I have to say, well it is a bit humbling.
I wanted to give all of your who have bought a shirt, checked out the site or sent it on to a friend, a great big thank you.Keep watching in the months to come.We are planning some interesting things that we hope will knock your socks off.
So, Alaska is BIG.Coming from Texas I thought I knew what big was…I had no idea. The vistas are huge, the waters are deep and the sky goes on forever.
Mike and I hosted my family on an Alaskan cruise over the Fourth of July and we had a great time. It was good to see my family and to get away.
So why am I blogging about Alaska?T-shirts and design rule the day, right?Well I am posting about Alaska as a way to demonstrate how Mike and I get inspired to design.Inspiration can be found anywhere and the most fertile inspiration is usually found outside our normal day-to-day.
Yes, the images were amazing in Alaska but don’t expect mountains, rivers and moose on our shirts anytime soon. What I took away from Alaska are really themes, three main themes: disproportions, wild and temporary.
Now you may wonder why temporary was one of the themes that came out of the trip. This picture gives you an idea of why I felt everything was temporary.
This is a shot if one of the Fjords we traveled to get to a glacier.I don’t have any pictures of the glacier because so much ice had melted from it; it was unsafe to move the ship any further inward.
Anyway, back to my inspiration.Since I have returned I have been designing images that are way out of proportion. Temporary and collapse have also shown up in my work.Check the blog soon, I will be posting some of my rough drafts to get your feedback.
So to wrap this up, I encourage you to take a different path to school or work, maybe take the bus. When you do, really notice the things around you.You will be surprised at what your creative brain will put together.
So the fair was a huge success! Not only did we make our sales goal for the show, and then some, we met some really hip people and got a lot of great feedback on our shirts.
The top seller and most popular shirt by far was Paper Bomber. This shirt got a lot of smiles, laughs and complements. I guess everyone can relate to that Sunday night feeling that yes, work is the next day. People also liked SUBUS and Gnome Sweet Gnome. And Ding also did very well.
We got to the fair early and because we had practiced setting up the booth it went up very quickly.
With the free time, three hours, I grabbed my camera and took some shots of our surroundings.
After that, we just chilled out in the booth.
All in all we had a fantastic time and we were able to connect with a lot of really cool people. We also had a treat, Alyssa, our fabulous model, stopped by for a chat. She is so sweet and looks unbelievable in the shirts.
The Fremont Fair is something we definitely will be doing again. We hope we have some new fans, made some new friends and could bring some smiles to the folks who stopped by. Thanks Seattle for being so supportive.
I know it has been a while since my last post. Sorry but Mike and I have been crazy busy. We have our first fair this weekend. We will have a booth at the Fremont Fair.
We have spent the last few weeks getting ready for the fair. We have printed signs with our logo and web site, we have printed signs with our prices and we have mocked up the tent in the drive way to make sure everything fits and looks good.
We have no idea what to expect. Will there be a rush on our shirts and will we sell out in the first day? Will people hate our shirts and run screaming to the beer garden to forget what they have seen? Who knows?
One thing is for sure, Mike and I are very excited to get some direct feedback from our customers and our community.
We also love the Fremont Fair. The fair is famous for its naked bicyclists but more that a peep show, the fair is the one Summer event where all of Seattle shows up.
So wish us luck and check back next week for pictures of the fair. Sorry, no naked cyclists but you can see my new kilt.
A few weeks ago Mike and I had some friends over to take pictures in some of our new shirts. The shoot was a blast and the pictures turned out great. The pictures were taken by the very talented
Debora Spencer.
Hello world! We are Wringer Tee and we are very excited. Our site is complete and we have a blog.
For this, our first blog, we felt it would be interesting to let you, the internet, know why we are here. Why, with all the t-shirt companies in the world, did two Southern boys decide to start one more? It’s about design. Not the designs we have now, although we think they are great, but the design journey. We wanted to share our design journey and we hope that you will share the journey with us.
You have a part in this journey. Blogs are interactive and we encourage you to participate. If you see a shirt you like, buy it. If you have an idea for a design, send it. If you want to know more about us, email us. Regardless of why you reach out, please do. We will also be posting our own t-shirt ideas and sketch-ups on this blog.
So there it is, why we are here and why we are going to stay. We hope you enjoy the journey.
We are also going to try to post a picture with every blog entry. We feel the following picture would be fitting as our first blog photo. It is some of our inventory, taking up a small space in our house. We are going to nurture this small group of boxes and watch it grow.
